Challenge
A large employer with $3Bn annual budget for members’ healthcare faced financial crisis. Premiums were increasing by more than 10% each year. State budgets could not keep up. Health plan members were still enrolling via paper and fax. The employer health plan had no way to engage members to enroll in more cost effective coverage or health care services during the year.
What We Did
XECsupport worked with the state to develop a digital transformation roadmap funded by savings. Members would switch from paper to a digital enrollment and self-service platform. Data collected from member claims was used to identify strategic wellness programs that would drive targeted outreach and education to help members, and employer, save on annual healthcare costs.
Result
What started as a digital enrollment project transformed into a member engagement, health and wellness strategic program. Data showed the ROI on health care services and prescription drug savings dwarfed any administrative cost takeout using a digital enrollment platform. XECsupport worked with senior state officials to document the business case and budget requests.
